Wow, I Did It Again...

Hello peoples. I'm posting on Sunday because I had amnesia with arthritis to the brain. A perfectly good explanation in my opinion. So without further ado, here's something I came up with on the fly.

A lot has happened in the past week. Like for instance, even though most of my friends were tired of talking about politics, I still found it pretty interesting that Obama came out as president. I personally did not find either candidate suitable for presidency but I found Obama as a better candidate since he had a better temper. The most interesting fact for me though was that Obama had access to much fewer resources than McCain and yet he came out on top. Money isn't everything ^_^. So congrats to Obama and hopefully he won't let the country down like Bush did.

A normal picture is boring so I found this =D

This week was pretty hectic for me also. I got a bunch of tests back and some of them were pretty bad. Like for instance, chemistry. I like how our teacher is very honest when we ask if it is a bad grade but sometimes I wish she wasn't so straight forward. It would also help if we had tests that were more than just 6 questions. So now I'm stuck with Apex and I still have a ton of homework to finish. Yay....

Anyway, join us today for another exciting post from Caroline and once again, I'm sorry for catching arthritis.

Con mucho suerte.

I thought it was a little awful when a student today was told that he had aced the test, only to find out that he made a D. I don't know him very well, but he seems like a nice person and everything. Why would anyone deserve that? And then another kid was immediately told, "-insert name here-, you're going to cry."
I don't really have complaints about my teachers. In fact, this teacher is thoroughly good at her subject, and is so, so eager to help her students. However, it was really kind of depressing to sit in the room today.
She also called me up to have a little chat with me...
Not the greatest day of the year.

In fact, many of the Power Bloggers do not seem to be having a phenomenal time this week.

If a school day could neglect any sort of math for one day, gosh, that would be an easy day.

So I wish you all the luck I can give, and I hope it is some high-quality luck because my 11:11 wishes always come true. I really hope the next wish comes true, because it feels good when other people are happy, no matter how unhappy I am. Maybe the Red Power Blogger sounds crazy right now.

A Delay

I am terribly sorry to that one reader that I'm sure actually cared about the promise I made last week. I can't do it this week. I am too weak. I am too tired. I am too sick.

I have slept 2 hours already today, and I am about to head back for another 8 before I get up, super early, and do all of my Biology Objectives (questions on the chapter that take a fair bit of time). Did I mention that we have 33 them of them?! -.-

So again, I'm sorry- complain, cry, claw my eyes out- I don't really care. I'm too tired to care.

Dommage

As tempted as I am to talk about politics, I’m going to try to refrain. I’ll just assume it’s a sub clause under the no religion amendment of our blog (Did you get that? That was politi-speak!).

So, just wondering, have any of you tried to teach yourself a language before? I only bring it up since it’s the eve of the French makeup test. That’s right. I get to fail the same test twice. I’m sure Jonathan knows what I’m talking about, the difference is Jonathan is half-French, while I’m basically illiterate. Almost every day this class is a source of pain for me, and I never expected this to be the class that would drive me to an early grave.

I’m just trying to imagine Gamache and the people up in the office saying, “Oh yes, no need to give those AP French kids who have to pass a college level exam at the end of the year an actual teacher, just go ahead and make them sit in the isolated corner of the room, alone, while all the French 3 kids get taught the same things they learned last year.”

And the worst part is, for as little as Gamache is doing, he’s always making us feel guilty for our lack of progress (well, me at least). I realize that I’ve been far from devoted, but it’s pretty hard to keep motivated when it dawns on you that you will never succeed at what you are doing, and the fruit of your efforts will be negligible at best.

I’m so upset about this class and yet I don’t know what to do. I’m getting more and more annoyed with the teacher everyday. Every chapter I say I’ll try harder and do better but it’s becoming increasingly hard to make up as much as I’ve fallen behind. Taking these tests and looking at practice AP exams, I’ve realized what my biggest barrier is.

I don’t know French. Plain and simple. And that’s probably not going to change. I can study individual vocabulary all I want but I’ll still probably get the questions wrong because I don’t know what the actual sentences are saying. I can’t compose a grammatically correct sentence to save my life. I don’t understand French speakers when they speak French with their natural accents or at a natural pace.

And yet after having this epiphany and coming to terms with my ultimate failure on the AP exam, suddenly Gamache decides that he’ll destroy our grades “if that’s what it takes” for us to catch on. Like that’s the only other option and he didn’t even think of actually teaching us. I know I complain about this all the time, but usually when I complain things get better after I vent. Unfortunately it isn’t getting better this time.

I should really get back to studying for that test.

the magicalness of my education

Yea, so I accidentally pressed "Publish" when I only had a title. . . so just to clear up any confusion, that was my mistake.

So this week the only thing I have really learned at school is that I have an IQ over 130. Everything else I think I already knew.

Yesterday I had the worst day ever. I woke up to do my review worksheet for Calculas and. . . I definitely was getting all the answers wrong. It freaked me out but I think I overcame it before the test. I also had a pop test which was not appreciated, my mother was meaner than usual, and I cried about seven times in alltel because i was just that emotional. At that point my mom thought it would be appropriate to ground me for a stupid reason and be a controlling meany face. I am also not getting along with one of my friends which is just kinda this extra sour cherry on top of my sundae of life.

Today . . . seemed just plain boring. BUT it's election day!!

I have to say I will miss Bush. He has been president since I was nine and I just don't even know what I would do if I didn't have him to laugh at. I mean I just don't know if any presidential candidate can say something so. . . Bush once a year.

I do have two interesting presidential quotes for you.

My dad hates Obama. Here are his thoughts:
"Obama is just off in Obamaland. He doesn't even know what's going on, and Americans are just drinking the Obama-Kool-Aid and just going along with everything he says. They must be high."

Mom and Son in Books-A-Million:
Kid: "We don't like Obama."
Mom: "That usually isn't something we share."
Kid: "Tommy's mom likes Obama so I said Boo Obama."
Mom: "We don't boo anyone."

Little did the kid know that there was a woman with an Obama T-Shirt right behind them in the checkout line.

I am going to New York this Friday. Yay. It should be fun. I get to go on an airplane (not like I haven't before. I love to fly.)

Have the most wonderful week of your lives because anyone who reads my post is amazing and makes me happy so you should be happy too. (Run on Sentence)

I don't even know where that came from. . .

Memories (part two)

"I have no doubt deserved my enemies, but I don't believe I deserved my friends." -Walt Whitman

In the ninth grade I was in Independent Studies. Basically we were in Algebra II honors but separated by the office. I remember David (he was in there with William and me) talking about some new girl, Kejing. I didn't think much of it. A lot of my friends became friends with her, and she and I became acquainted but I wouldn't really call it a friendship. Then sophomore year a group of us decided that we all needed official "bffs". I'm not sure how Kejing got involved...I think she may have just been passing by but she became my "bff". For a couple of weeks we greeted each other "BFF!" Soon we began talking and became very good friends. Quite funny how that turned out, huh?

June already mentioned our meeting. I don't remember it that well. We didn't really become friends until eight grade. We sat near each other in Geometry. Jack, William, and Ally sat near us also...and we were always joking around and whatnot. One time we got onto a discussion of lip gloss versus lipstick. I just remember June and Jack claiming that lipstick was just like a crayon. That became our long-running joke. June would create a lipstick factory in which he would make his products out of Crayola crayons. He was supposed to make millions and we each demanded a cut...except for Jack...I believe he asked for all the profits. Ah...good times.

As I've said before, I met Caroline the same time I met Lacey. I don't really have that many memories of Caroline from middle school. I definitely remember in the ninth grade when she invited us to listen to her sing in Mrs. Heid's 'talent show'. Wow. I knew she sang, but I didn't know she could sing like that. It was quite phenomenal. Then only over the past couple of years I've really gotten to see the sense of self and great spirituality of Caroline which I respect and love. She is quite a good friend...and I much appreciate her company.

Oh and is anyone else disappointed Heroes isn't coming on tonight?

There's No Mathematics to Love and Loss

Hey there! Blue powerblogger here!

So my Halloween was AMAZING!!! I didn't have any plans at first, so I was really bummed out, but then I decided to go to this party that a bunch of my friends went to, and it was awesome. There was food, a bonfire, ping-pong, and a hayride. And the best part was, my current "love interest" was there. Score! And we rode on the hayride together. Twice. It was quite romantic. Then, today I went to Creepy Hollow. For those of you who don't know what that is, its a haunted trail-thing that our school FCA organizes every year. It wasn't that scary, but I got to go with said "love interest" and cling to his arm when I was "frightened". Oh, our hands just so happened to touch multiple times, too. At the end, this boy we were with asked out this girl we were with, too, and it was adorable!!! I basically had a fantastic time.

Then the mood was kinda dampened though, because on the way home, "love interest" informed us that one of our friend's mom's committed suicide. It was really sad, and I almost cried. The rest of the ride home was awkward, too, because we were too depressed to talk about anything cheerful. I just feel so bad for the kid! I can't even imagine that type of loss! I want to just reach out and hug him, but I don't know how to react. I mean, its not often that this happens to one of my friends, so I don't know what to do. It breaks my heart though! And this person goes to my church, and his brother is one of our youth interns, so it will be interesting to see how things pan out. So if you pray, please, just pray for them.

But other than that, my life is going pretty awesome. Oh, and its daylight savings tonight!!!

Until next week,

Caroline
