Your Face is Obsessive!

It has been claimed that I have a bit of an obsessive personality. And you know what, I'll admit that perhaps I do. But it's not my fault, you see. Every time I liked something when I was a kid, my parents and sisters fed that like until it was the only thing I cared about.

My youngest memory of this was with orange flavored things. I loved orange things, but my sisters hated them. Whether it was Skittles or Starbursts, they would trade me all my other flavors for oranges. Thus I had all the orange flavored things I wanted. I got sick of them, mind you, and still today am wary about eating orange flavored things. The point is they fed my desire, making me more obsessive. So it's my family's fault I have an obsessive personality.

Then I was trying to remember everything I had been obsessed with over the years. There were too many to state, so I made a shortened list: Scooby Doo, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Greek mythology, Neopets, Baseball cards, pigs, The Wonder Years, Star Wars, superheroes (Superman in particular), The Power Rangers, Facebook, Postsecret, and YouTube.

Don't worry though, I've learned a lot from these obsessions. JK Rowling can't write more than four good books. Don't trade pokemon cards with boys who will trick you because you're five and they are nine. It was Pandora's fault that the world sucks. The Snowager is asleep 5-6 EST. On a scale of intelligence it goes; human, chimp, whales, dolphins, and then pigs. The Superman comics suck once Lois and Clark get married. They're on the 16th season of Power Rangers. Facebook makes it easy to talk to people you don't actually want to talk to in person. And every video you could ever want is on YouTube. See, I'm sure all these things will help me later in life.

I'll be out of town until Saturday, and I can't wait to read all the week's posts then.

Happy early Birthday, June! Though I will be out of town on your day, I must say I won't be doing math. And I'll expect will see the results of your punishment soon, considering it's been two weeks.

Lacey, I hope your Internet is working great tomorrow! See you guys, Saturday!

Pineapple Tidbits

So I just got back in town yesterday, and my mind is kinda fried, and I couldn't think of something to write about. So instead I'm writing about several things.

Last year in october, I went on a beach retreat with my church. Now, I am extremely picky, so the food situation was an issue. The food served was cafeteria-style, and I've never actually eaten anything out of a school cafeteria. It was disgusting! Instead, I brought my own food-apples, ritz crackers, teddy grahams, and, of course, pineapple tidbits. Thats what I lived off of for the weekend.

Those of you who read this blog regularly probably remember my television rant from about a month ago. So last fall, I saw commercials for this new show on ABC family called Greek, which is about partying, drinking, and frat life. I was slightly appalled by the fact that that sort of content was being shown on a family network, but I saw an episode of Greek and I must say, I'm hooked. It revolves around Casey Cartwright, who attends Cyprus Rhodes University and is in a sorority. Her geeky brother, Rusty, arrives, and he decides to join the frat led by Casey's ex, Cappie (who is really hot) and Rusty gets into a huge fight with Casey's current bf, Evan (who is also really hot). And Cappie still loves Casey. Its a great show, so you should watch it. And its more than just partying and drinking, I promise.

We were up in the mountains for the fourth, and my family decided to go see some fireworks that were being set off in a park. The park was really crowded though, so we ended up sitting in a parking lot down the street to watch the fireworks. All we could see were some tiny fireworks from behind some trees, and it was pretty sucky. A lot of people started leaving, and we considered doing the same. After about half the people had left, thouroughly disappointed with the fireworks display, the real ones started. They were amazing! I couldn't help but chuckle about those who'd left before the show.

Up in the mountains, my cousins and I play this game called "Richies". Its kinda ridiculous. We pretend that we're these really rich kids whose parents died in a plane crash. I play the oldest girl, Amelie, who is 23 years old and has to raise her siblings while balancing college and a social life. I attend "Atlanta Institute of Engineering and Design" (which is a made up university) and I actually teach myself architectural history and design concepts. Its weird, I know, but I've learned a lot from it!

This little "tidbit" is about stuffed animals. I have a stuffed animal collection, but my mom always wants me to put them in plastic bags and throw them in the attic. I can't do that!! They'll suffocate!! So instead, I found a hiding place for them. My bed has a trundle bed underneath it, so I push the trundle against the wall behind my bed. This creates a little ledge for all of my animals to sit on, and they can't be seen by my mother.

My aunt has a nice car, and it has XM radio in it, which I love. Her kids listen to Top 20 on 20 all the time. This is a real treat for me, because my mom only plays christian music in her car. I love christian music, but after a while, all the songs sound the same. On Top 20 on 20, there are all types of music. I've recently fallen in love with "That's what you get" by Paramore, "Fall for You" by Secondhand Serenade, and "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven. When I get a car, I'm getting XM radio.

So those are all my tidbits of information.

And I just looked at my calendar, and its still on April 19.

Post-Fourth of July Post

Hello my children. Green power blogger here with the After-4th-of-July post and I must say that there was lots and lots of laughter.... and food... and pretty lights.... and gun powder..... and large explosions... and FIRE!!!!!! *ahem anyways-

Ahhh, Independence Day. Greatest holiday for Americans and a insult to communism (no offense red power blogger) where everywhere in the USA band together and cele
brate freedom and democracy.

I know it says 4th of July sale 2007 but I HAD to put this on.

Moving on, Venus Williams defeated Serena Williams in the Wimbledon finals. It was the most screamy match I've ever heard. Seriously, some of those women sound like men and have big man arms/legs. It's really scary.

Lastly, next week is my birthday! Yay!!! I'll be age ___ and most of my friends will be gone at a national math competition! How delightful. Well that's all I have for you guys today so stayed tune for the blue power bloggers because (yes I know I say this almost every week) shes awesome.

-June (I noticed everyone except me signed their posts so I'll start doing that from now on)

Red on a Patriotic Day

This morning, as I turned from my street to bike onto the larger one that goes through the neighborhood, I passed a stucco home at the side of the road. Small flags of the USA were lined up along the edge of its lawn. On both sides of the sidewalk. I can imagine the owner of the house with a huge pile of these tiny ornaments, spacing each small wooden pole equally away from its fellow red, white and blue friends. Watching over them was a larger flag, attached to the side of the house.
What I wouldn't give to have that many Chinese flags.
Yesterday, excitement ensued when my good American brother informed me that a Chinese person was going to be in the semifinals at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. Great stuff.
And now that I have referred to my home country quite enough for this post, it is mildly important to note that I would not rather live in another country in the world than the United States (as far as I know at this moment). Because for now, I am having an invigorating discussion with my favorite sibling's oldest younger sister about Nadal's victorious tiebreaker against Schüttler.
I'm pretty stoked about Sky Sport's animated favicon, because I've never seen one that could change. I found the website from some Googling so I could find a way to spell the German guy's name. That probably wasn't overly exciting for you.
For the first time in my life, I will stand on American soil further west than Minnesota. Therefore, if there is anyone who would like to do a fill-in [edit: Friday the 18th], please leave a comment, and I will get back to you as soon as I see that it has arrived in my Gmail Inbox. My only request is that you do not tout any capitalist ideals in place of the red Power Blogger.
Have a marvelous Fourth of July.

until after the post is published.)

Give Me A Dime, And I'll Give You a Rhyme

And so today's post begins,
With a form of poetry written in twins.

These couplets of very lovely lines,
Don't get complicated with gays kissing in a commercial of Heinz.

No, they are far simpler and more profound,
Though granted, today's poem is not you going to confound.

So perhaps you've discovered what I want to share with you today. For those of you a little slower, it's poetry. I love poetry. I find it smooth, soothing, euphoric, dramatic, and above all- fun.

You may wonder why I bring up something so often killed and grilled to death in any Literature class. Then perhaps, you should re-read the sentence prior. We've been exposed to some great poetry, but let's face it- we aren't taught how great of a tool of expression poetry is. I, fortunately for me, found on my own how to truly enjoy writing poetry, and I'm not talking about that crap rhyming scheme from third grade with cheesy rhymes. No, I speak of something far more eloquent and in a sense, free.

Perhaps, instead of explaining poetry to you, I can show you my own, to inspire you to express yourself as I've done. Or, at the very least, let me showcase some of my favorite poems- either way, you have no choice- I'm the one writing here, and it seems as if you're still reading!

So, with a little introduction, I present my roots of poetry for this year, if you will. This poem (COMPLETELY UNINSPIRED BY ANYONE, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH) is completely in French. Naturally, the idea struck me in French class and I began writing. The rhyming is in French, so perhaps, after reading the translation, you should try and read aloud the poem to get an idea of the rhyming- even if you sound foolish, you'll appreciate the rhymes.

Without further ado, I present Mon Cœur (My Heart).

Mon Cœur (Mon ♥)

Mon cœur,
Sans ce douleur,
Serait plein de couleur,
Et de l'humour.

Mon Amour,
Sans toi - cœur lourde,
Tu me manque chaque jour,
Et quand je te vois, c'est trop court.

Mais, quand tu me vois,
Tu me donne pas une choix,
Que, quoi-ce-sois,
Je peux jamais vivre sans toi.

My Heart (My ♥)

My Heart,
Without this pain/sadness,
Would be full of color,
And of humor/happiness.

My Love,
Without you - heart heavy,
I miss you each day,
And when I see you, it is too short.

But, when you see me,
You give me no choice,
That, whatever-should-happen,
I can never live without you.

So yep.. that's poem number one, that inspired me to write more and more. The next poem was actually inspired by someone, two someones, in fact, but they shall remain nameless. Enjoy.

A Sideways Glance

A sideways glance
started it all
A sideways glance
and the walls began to fall
A sideways glance
set sparks in their eyes
A sideways glance
is a causal sweep so sly
A sideways glance
vocalizes what was thought
A sideways glance
was once just
a sideways glance
but now it is not.

The third and final poem I give you is entitled The Twelve Year Tunnel and was dedicated to all of 2008's graduating seniors.

The Twelve Year Tunnel

We hold our breath
As we plunge into the tunnel
A game we all play
As kids

Our parents drive us through
Until the end
Discussing the road and reminiscing to times when they played
As kids

When we began the game
At the start of the tunnel
We never knew how long it would take to clear it
As kids

But twelve years later
Our class looks around
Throws their hats in the air and releases their breath
As adults.

So, I hope my poetry had inspired you to express yourself,
For how wonderful would it be for you to reach up on that shelf,
And grab and exercise your creative side,
And use words to come out with nothing to hide.

Prunes and Potato Juice

The monk left yesterday, before I woke up. It was the first time in months he hadn’t been here, with the exception of the time we were on vacation, and it was wonderful. I mean, I basically sat around all day doing nothing. But the fact that I didn’t have to worry about the impending threat of him coming in to ask me to make fifty more CD copies of his talks was very refreshing.

Unfortunately this wasn’t the last of my problems. My mother’s taken to juicing, and now I’m provided a new concoction nearly every night along with my dinner. She juices everything within reach. Pounds of fruit have been plucked up, within days of their expiration, only to be pulped and processed into a frothy, brown substance.

Last night I had what I assume to be a watermelon carrot mix, which may sound good in theory, but doesn’t turn out so well in practice. Turns out this watermelon had a very strong and disagreeable aftertaste. Not to mention the juice kept separating… anyway it was a mess. I never though t I’d say this, but I wish we just had plain water again.

And as if this wasn’t enough, today she brought a bag of prunes to the table and just put them right down, as if I was going to eat them. Prunes. Yet another reason to fear aging. Just the sight of them offends me. Have you ever seen a prune? It looks like a giant, fleshy cockroach. They shouldn’t be allowed on the table.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think it’s important to be healthy. But there’s nothing that says you have to ingest disgusting things in order to do it.

So here I am, getting ready to sit down to a delicious dinner of Carrot-melon juice, prunes, and hummus, when I realize that maybe I haven’t exactly escaped the influence of the monk. The vegetarian diet remains. He might have left our guestroom, but he still lives on in the terrifying specter of prunes and potato juice.

slight malfunction

Computer problems. Posting in a few minutes. Still made Tuesday.

-Lacey

(That was posted at 11:59 in case that doesn't show up. I was so excited that I didn't completely miss Tuesday. This was a computer freak out like no other. I am very sorry.)

So this week I had to clean my room. Is it shocking? no. I was thinking about it and I realized that I spend over 80% of my waking hours at home cleaning my room. I think that that is an amazing statistic.

I am in Apalachicola. Technically here the TV is on a different time zone so I'm kind of not even late. It is so boring here. And I've eaten a zillion of those Pop Ice popsicles. They are delicious.

I have this whole week off of cosmetology school. I actually only have about two more weeks. Which is pretty awesome. I am really excited because I might get to have a summer.

My mother did the most ridiculous thing this week. She got mad at me for something that wasn't even a big deal and she knew it. She came up with an outrageous punishment that was unfair to outside parties. And the next day she came to her senses and apologized. It was a normal Saturday night.

Vh1 could seriously count down anything. I am convinced. Their countdowns are awesome and you know that countdowns can suck you in. They have the best ones.

My computer has a section on it called "Problems and Solutions for Your Computer." I go to it whenever my computer does something freaky and just randomly shuts off or something. Under the Problems section you can find probably around 50 different things my computer is doing wrong. Under the Solutions section it says "No solutions have been found for your computer at this time." It's really helpful.

Wall-e was the best movie ever. Go see it. You will love it. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Have a lovely July 4th.
